Induction or wider abstractions e.g. :

If you already know the concepts table, chair, bed, etc then you use induction to form them into the concept furniture.

Deduction or narrower abstractions e.g. :

If you start knowing the concept table, you use deduction to subdivide it into dining table, end table, coffee table etc.

Similarly:

Man into child, adolescent, youth, adult etc.

Man into Caucasian, Negro, Mongolian etc.

Man into American, Englishman, Frenchman etc.

Man into Engineer, Doctor, Artist etc.
