MODERN CERTAINTY Index
Certainty, in the
view of modern intellectuals, is inherently out of reach for you or any
person because of universal shortfalls in man or in the nature of existence.
These shortfalls range from senses not being "perfect", to
incompleteness of knowledge, to inherent irrationality in existence itself. The
end result is the "I can't prove I'm not a fried egg" of Bertrand
Russell. In other words no one can know enough to be certain of anything.
Ayn Rand has pointed
out that this is a direct attack on your mind and your ability to think,
and that many modern intellectuals don't want you to be able to think.
