Your body needs food and drink, you need protection from cold, heat, disease. For a sense of well being you need intellectual stimulation, music, art etc. How do you obtain these things?

In the Objectivist Ethics you have no automatic guaranteed right to the productive efforts of other men. You have no hold over them to demand their sacrifice for your sake.

Productive work is the noble course of action that you must choose to survive. Your own productive work is, properly, your main concern.

Other values such as friendship and romantic love can be extremely rewarding, but life itself is the standard, and productivity is essential to life.
